A Pocket alternative after Pocket shut down
Mozilla shut Pocket down on 8 July 2025, so if you need a new place for the links you save, KeepJar is one option: it keeps links, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube posts, web pages, notes and screenshots, and finds them again by meaning or by exact words. KeepJar cannot import a Pocket export, so you re-save the things you still need. It's free to use now.

What happened to Pocket
According to Mozilla's page on the future of Pocket:
- Mozilla shut Pocket down on 8 July 2025.
- Export closed on 12 November 2025, and user data was queued for deletion.
- The Pocket API was disabled the same day.
Moving to KeepJar
KeepJar cannot import a Pocket export, and it has no import from other services. To bring something across, save it again:
- On the web, open the web app and paste a link or some text.
- On iPhone and iPad, use the Share button in any app and choose KeepJar. The iPhone and iPad app is coming soon to the App Store.
For each link, KeepJar fetches the title, the description and the preview image for you.
What KeepJar does
- Keeps links, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube posts, web pages, text notes and screenshots.
- Finds things by meaning or by exact words. See how to find saved links by meaning.
- Organises with tags, collections and your own notes.
- Works with Claude through MCP. See how to connect Claude to your saved links.
- Stays private: no ads, no trackers, data stored in Germany, and meaning search runs on KeepJar's own server.
- Lets you leave: export everything as JSON from Settings in the web app.
KeepJar is free to use. We plan a paid plan, KeepJar Pro, for people who use their AI with KeepJar a lot; the free plan will stay.
What KeepJar doesn't do
- The iPhone and iPad app is coming soon to the App Store.
- KeepJar has no Android app.
- KeepJar cannot import from Pocket or any other service.
- KeepJar does not download videos: a post stays on its platform, and KeepJar keeps the link, title and preview.
- KeepJar does not read the text inside screenshots. They're found by the note and tags you give them.
Other options
Raindrop.io and mymind are two other places to keep what you find. See KeepJar vs Raindrop.io vs mymind for a short, sourced comparison.
