How to find saved links by meaning, not keywords
Save your links in KeepJar and search in your own words: KeepJar's meaning search (semantic search) finds things by what you describe, not only by the words they contain. For example, searching that pasta place in Lisbon someone told me about
finds the note Best pasta in Lisbon is at Rua Augusta 12, ask for the cacio e pepe
. The same search also matches exact words, so a name or phrase you remember works too.

How meaning search works
KeepJar computes text embeddings, numbers that stand for what a piece of text means, for the things you save and for your search. It then finds the saves whose meaning is closest to what you typed. The embeddings are computed on KeepJar's own server, with a model called gte-small.
So you can search the way you'd describe something to a friend. You don't need to remember a title or where you saw it.
You search
that pasta place in Lisbon someone told me about
KeepJar finds your note
Best pasta in Lisbon is at Rua Augusta 12, ask for the cacio e pepe
When you know the exact words
You don't switch modes: every search matches meaning and exact words together, so a name, a place or a phrase you remember also finds what you saved.
Make things easier to find
- Write a note in your own words when you save something, so what you remember about it is kept with it.
- Add tags and put things into collections.
- Describe your screenshots. Screenshots are kept as images and found by the note and tags you give them. KeepJar does not read the text inside images.
Private
Meaning search runs on KeepJar's own server. Your jar is stored in Germany, and there are no ads and no trackers. Read the privacy policy.
You can also ask Claude to search your jar for you: see how to connect Claude to your saved links.
